My non-scientific theory of retirement change

Buckle up because I’m wearing my retirement professor hat, ready to sprout you my theory of retirement change. That’s my theory, which when applied to your life, can take you from full-time work to satisfying retirement.

My theory being:

First ask yourself, What must I address? Which means cutting through the complexity and endless considerations retirement offers (e.g. those considerations surrounding family, health, hobbies, living arrangements, travel, casual work, volunteering, heart and soul projects, and so on) to identify your one true problem. That’s your leverage point.

Then ask, How will my future be different? (Beyond not having a full-time job and salary). Which means seeing the change you want in your life before that change happens. Perhaps it’s more connection, belonging, purpose, meaning, contribution, and so on. Or something else entirely.

And third and finally ask yourself, How will that change happen? Which means figuring out all the ways you can intentionally bring it about… the strategies, plans, actions, next steps and so on to take you from here to there.

But still, you could be unsure. No sweat. Go here next.
