Your 30,000-feet retirement status check
If you desire a broader, richer perspective to move into retirement with, then here’s some questions to get your puzzler puzzling…
===
What goals are important to you now? Why are they important to you? And why now?
===
I must admit, I like goals. They can provide drive and direction when you cross the void from work to retirement. And although the word can feel too ‘corporate,’ perhaps too much like the life you’re leaving behind, personal goals can be your North Star when you plan retirement.
But here’s the thing. Your values are more meaningful. They can be why you pick one goal or another. Your goals can change. Your values, on the other hand, usually endure when they fit best.
All of which leads to:
===
How have you made big changes in your life previously? What worked for you, and what didn’t? And what will do this time? Oh, and how willing are you to make big changes now?
===
Anyhow, these are the questions I ask new clients in my first coaching call with them. I want to discover who they are, what makes them tick, and how they want to change their life.
Perhaps that’s making a small adjustment only, or walking a new path entirely.
That’s why it can be helpful to take a 30,000 feet status check before you leap, or even after you leap, as the ground gets closer and closer to your face.

P.S. Is it 30,000 feet or 30,000 foot? I Googled it but still wasn’t convinced!
