How to unstick yourself in retirement
A reader who retired two years ago told me only today:
“I was lucky enough that I have always enjoyed making stuff and my family says I’m very different to anyone else they know. I strongly believe that I can make, or fix, anything that I set my mind on…”
That’s some powerful self reflection and positive affirmation, right?
And its sub-text is powerful, too, especially if you’re stuck, unsure how to use those 40 extra hours you’ll have each week in retirement.
Because to get yourself ‘unstuck’ in retirement, simply focus on making things better for the people around you. Doing so can fire up your usefulness, connection and belonging.
Don’t try to fix other people, though, especially your nearest and dearest. They’ll resent that (and you). My own experience tells me so, anyway.
That’s my self reflection.
